Sean Dengler, the ASU Polytechnic Startup Lab Manager, came to work with Mrs. Hardt's fourth grade class. The students will be creating Bristlebots over the next few weeks. Bristlebots are tiny robots using a small motor and the head of a toothbrush. Sean led the class as the student's collaborated and shared their ideas to build a "course" for their Bristlebots. The process took the entire hour in the lab, and the students were completely engaged as they designed the final products that each class will be using for their Bristlebots in the next few weeks. It was a wonderful opportunity for the students to participate in this experience. As Sean pointed out, this style of collaboration is what engineers experience in their everyday lives. The students were able to share their creativity, ingenuity, problem solving skills, as well as their ability to work well with others. It was a special experience for everyone!
